Roma at Three Rivers

Roma at Three Rivers is a National Historic Site on Prince Edward Island, where French merchant Jean Pierre Roma founded a trading settlement in 1732. We refreshed Roma’s brand, built a new bilingual website, and spent days on site capturing the photography and promo video that bring its living history to a new generation of visitors.

Project Details

Roma is a living museum that brings 18th-century settlement life to the shores of the Brudenell River, but its online presence wasn’t reaching the younger, digital-first visitors it wanted to welcome. We started with the brand, building a new identity around the Acadian chaloupe, the traditional fishing boat at the centre of Roma’s story, then designed and developed a modern, mobile-friendly website that makes planning a visit simple. The project also included on-site photography, a 30-second promo video, SEO and analytics, and English and French versions of the site.

Experiencing Roma

Roma’s daily program is hands-on, so the site leads with the experience. Visitors can browse the heritage kitchen, guided tours, workshops, special events, children’s activities and nature trails, then dig into a full list of things to do, from net making and candle making to quill pen writing and a heritage lunch in the full-service restaurant.

Promo Video

To give younger audiences a reason to visit, we produced a 30-second promo video that plays in the hero of Roma’s homepage. Filmed over several days on site, it moves from drone shots of the settlement to bread coming out of the outdoor oven, nets being cast at the water’s edge and songs on the green.

Branding & Photography

Roma’s new identity is built around the Acadian chaloupe, set in a circular mark beside a clean, modern wordmark. A palette of slate, teal and linen carries across the website, print materials and social media, and our on-site photography gives Roma a library of images that capture both the landscape and the people who bring the site to life.

Bilingual & Mobile-First

Every page is available in English and French through Lake Translate, our in-house translation plugin, with dedicated French pages that Google can index, so visitors can plan their trip in their own language. The whole site is built mobile-first, with hours, admission and trail information easy to reach on the way to Roma.
