Brackley Bay Oyster Co.

Brackley Bay Oyster Co. has been caretaking one of the oldest oyster leases on Prince Edward Island for generations. We designed and developed a website as fresh as their oysters: a showcase for their four signature varieties, the family story behind the lease, and a Brackley Beach shop that has become a destination of its own.

Project Details

Brackley Bay grows some of PEI’s most loved oysters, shucks them at its own oyster bar, and welcomes visitors to a seafood market, ice creamery and patio in Brackley Beach. The new website needed to serve oyster lovers at home and on the Island alike, so we built it around the bay itself: rich food photography, clear details on every variety, the history of the MacMillan Point lease, and everything you need to plan a visit, from hours and directions to the neighbouring shops.

Oyster Varieties

Every oyster has a story, and the site tells it. An interactive varieties selector on the homepage lets visitors flip between Brackley Bays, MacMillan Points, Wild Caught and Stanhope Capes, each with its flavour profile, size and the harvest coordinates of the bay it comes from. The Our Oysters page goes deeper, matching each variety to the people who’ll love it, from beginner-friendly Stanhope Capes to the hearty MacMillan Point cooking oyster.

Our Story

Brackley Bay’s lease dates back to the 1800s, and we gave that history the space it deserves. The Our Story page is an illustrated timeline that follows the lease from Lorne and Edith MacMillan’s 1932 DFO survey and Christmas-menu oysters through to Robbie Moore, who has cared for it since 2002, told through archival photos, documents and family stories.

Retail Location

The Brackley Beach shop is far more than an oyster counter, so the site makes it easy to plan a visit. The Our Location page brings together seasonal hours, the oyster bar, ice creamery and covered patio, group oyster experiences, Harvest Host camping and the neighbouring businesses that share the site, with a map and directions on every page.

Mobile-First

Many visitors find Brackley Bay on their phones, often while they’re already on the Island. Every page, from the varieties selector to the story timeline, is built to work beautifully on a small screen, with hours, directions and contact details always a tap away.
